Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 5, 2026

Before you publish this: a few spots below are marked like this because they depend on details only you know (your hosting provider, and whether you're operating as an individual or a registered business). Fill those in, and have someone with actual legal training look this over before it goes live, especially given the financial stakes involved (GDPR fines can reach up to €20 million or 4% of global annual turnover, and the EU AI Act's transparency rules carry penalties up to €15 million or 3%). This document reflects that Vaely is operated from Sweden, so it's written around GDPR and the EU AI Act rather than the laws of another country.

Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains what information Vaely.io ("Vaely," "we," "us") collects when you use our website and study tools (Test Maker, Flashcards, Notes Cleaner, Study Planner, Math Solver, and Grader, together the "Services"), and how that information is used, shared, and protected.

Vaely.io is operated from Sweden by [your name or business name]. If you have questions about this policy or your data, you can reach us at support@vaely.io.

Information we collect

Information you give us directly

Information collected automatically

What we don't collect

We don't use third-party advertising trackers, and we don't run ads on Vaely.io. We don't collect or sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

How we use your information

Our legal basis for processing your data

Since Vaely operates in the EU, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases (as set out in Article 6 of the GDPR) depending on what we're doing with your data:

How your content is processed by AI

When you use a tool that generates something, like a test, a flashcard deck, a cleaned-up summary, a math solution, grading feedback, or a study plan, the notes or text you provide are sent to a third-party AI service provider to generate that response. This is how the actual generation happens; we don't run our own AI models. We don't currently name our specific AI provider(s) in this policy, but we choose providers whose terms state that content submitted through their business/API services is not used to train their models by default, and we can share more detail if you contact us at the email above.

Because our AI tools interact with you directly, EU law (the AI Act) requires that you're informed you're interacting with an AI system. We do this within the product itself, not just in this policy, look for the notice shown near each tool's input area.

Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of things to make the site work:

We don't use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

How we share information

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:

Vaely does not currently have a paid subscription billing system in place, so no payment or billing information is currently collected or shared with a payment processor. If that changes, this policy will be updated to name the payment processor used and explain what's collected.

International data transfers

Some of the providers described above, including our AI service provider(s) and possibly our hosting provider, may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA), for example in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on legally recognized safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, to ensure your data still receives an adequate level of protection.

Data retention

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account from your settings page, we permanently delete your account, along with your saved tests, flashcard decks, documents, study plans, folders, and profile picture. We may keep information we're required to retain by law, or in a form that no longer identifies you.

Your rights and choices

Because Vaely is based in the EU, you have rights under the GDPR regardless of where you're located, and these apply in full if you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland. These include the right to:

You can exercise any of these by contacting us at the email above. If you believe we haven't handled your request properly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with Sweden's data protection authority, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), or with the supervisory authority in your own EU country of residence.

Children's privacy

Vaely is a study tool, so it's realistic to expect many users are under 18. [This section still needs your decision.] Under the GDPR, Sweden has set 13 as the age at which a young person can consent to an information society service like this one on their own behalf, below that age, a parent or guardian's consent is required. That's the legal floor, not a recommendation, you can still set Vaely's own minimum account age higher than 13 if you'd prefer (many similar services require 16 or 18). Whatever you decide, state it clearly here and in the Terms of Service, along with how a parent or guardian can contact you to review or delete their child's information.

Where your data is stored

Vaely.io is operated from Sweden, and your information is stored and processed by our hosting provider in [hosting region, if known]. By using Vaely, you understand your information may be processed outside the country you live in, subject to the safeguards described above.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including storing passwords securely and using HTTPS to encrypt data sent to and from the site. No online service can guarantee complete security, so we can't promise your information will never be accessed without authorization, but we take it seriously.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll try to let you know more directly, such as by email.
